Turning the boring work you already knew into the product
Open the real page βbetteranalyst.com Β· alive as of 2026-08-31
Spreadsheet formulas and data analysis, written from plain language. Because the founder came out of work he had done for years, the "what should I even sell" stage never happened. π΄ Checked 2026-08-31: `formulabot.com` now lands on `betteranalyst.com` β the site states "Formula Bot is now Better Analyst." β οΈ Revenue figures come from the founder's own interview, so we do not print them (grade B).
In plain words
People get stuck writing spreadsheet formulas. This product writes the formula, and the analysis, from a sentence. The founder had spent years doing that work himself.

AI's part and the person's part
Already had
A practitioner in the domain. This is not someone entering a new field because AI arrived; it is someone folding away the repetition in their own field. To copy it, start from work you have already done for years, not from learning AI.
If this is large, the AI is not the reason
What the AI did
Turning language into formulas, analysis and charts is the entire product. Upload a file or connect a source, ask a question, get tables and dashboards back. The AI does not assist with the work; it produces the deliverable.
the part a tool replaced
What the person did
Knowing which questions actually repeat in real jobs. The founder worked in this area for years, and that experience became the list of things worth automating. The decisive asset was not the ability to build β it was already owning the problem list.

How we verified this
Public dashboard or platform figure. May be self-reported
Confirmed β the service is live and has been rebranded (2026-08-31: `formulabot.com` resolves to `betteranalyst.com`, and the site states "Formula Bot is now Better Analyst β same account and workflows"). Published pricing checked directly. Founder named. Interview post live (HTTP 200). Internally consistent β the interview's canonical URL references passing $500K ARR, which reconciles with the monthly figure we were given. Both, however, trace to the same founder statement, so this is internal consistency, not independent corroboration. Not confirmed β revenue. With no independent source, no amount is published. β οΈ The rename is itself material. Metrics gathered under the old name belong to a different point in time than the product now carries.
- Official site β liveness, rebrand statement, and pricing (Starter $20 / Max $40 / Business $80 per user, monthly) checked directly (official_site Β· checked 2026-08-31)
- Indie Hackers founder post β origin of the revenue claim. Founder-stated, supporting evidence only (founder_interview Β· checked 2026-08-31)
What made it work
The most reliable place to find something to sell is the tedious work you have already done for years. It beats scanning communities for complaints, because you already know each problem's frequency and urgency first-hand. And a free entry point outperforms advertising as an acquisition asset. A screen that solves one formula for nothing pulls people in from both search and communities.
Risks
- General-purpose models keep getting better at this, and the spreadsheet vendors are shipping the same features; what remains defensible is how deeply the product is wired into a real workflow.
- This is a product that changed its name β the position moved enough to require it, and search equity is fragile through that move.
- Revenue rests on founder statements alone.
Does this work in Korea?
This is among the most transferable cases in the set. Spreadsheet work is the shared language of Korean office life, the language barrier is comparatively low, and the buyers already pay for software. The starting method transfers unchanged β the three table tasks you repeat every week at work are your product shortlist. β οΈ Handling company data means disclosure of storage and cross-border transfer comes first.
Solo-feasible: partially Β· Automation: high
7-day action plan
Step 1. Write down three table tasks you repeat every week at work
Step 2. Hand one to an AI and record exactly where it gets things wrong
Step 3. Ask three colleagues what they would pay for something that catches those errors for them
30-day action plan
Step 1. Build a free entry point that handles only the single most common request
Step 2. Collect 30 real questions that arrive there and sort them into groups
Step 3. Attach paid features to the largest group only

Words you may not know
- Verification grade
- How far we checked this case. A means the revenue was confirmed by someone other than the founder; B means the business exists but the revenue is only the founder's word.
- Revenue
- Everything that came in. Tools, fees and tax still have to come out before it is what you keep. The two are not the same.
- MRR
- Money that arrives every month, as opposed to a one-time payment.
- Self-reported
- A number the person stated about themselves. Nobody else confirmed it, which is why we do not print those numbers.
- Replicability
- How likely someone else is to get a similar result. The more the founder already knew the field, the harder it is to copy.
